Billy Miller has shared his thoughts on leaving his Emmy award winning role of Billy Abbott on The Young and the Restless.
Miller opened up to Soap Opera Digest in their latest issue. He taped his final scenes on Thursday, Dec. 19 and will last air in the role on January 30, 2014. He explained to the publication that the CBS soap opera did try to convince him to stay but it was to no avail.
"I was made a generous offer to stay on 'Y&R.' It was definitely a chance to gain veteran actor status. To pass was the hardest thing I've ever done. I was caught between a rock and a hard place. This is a great role to play; it afforded me a unique lifestyle. However, I realized if I took that contract, I would never know what else is out there. In the past, we were able to venture out of the 'Y&R' world; now it seems there is no longer that flexibility for me," he said.
Miller has played the popular role in 2008. He confessed that he did not believe he would last as long as he did.
"I thought I'd be fired every day in the beginning. Now, the show was such a huge part of my life, there's an enormous hole to fill," he said.
The cast and crew showed their appreciation to Miller with a video they made for the departing actor. It can be viewed below.
