Taye Dags and Idina Menzel Split After 10 Years of Marriage

Taye Dags and Idina Menzel are splitting after 10 years of marriage.

The couple, long celebrated because of their commitment, announced their separation to PEOPLE. The two, both 42, starred in the Broadway production Rent in the mid 1990's. They were married in 2003 and welcomed a son in 2009.

"Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs have jointly decided to separate at this time," a reps for the couple told the publication. "Their primary focus and concern is for their son. We ask that you respect their privacy during this time."

There was no reason given for the separation despite rumors of cheating by him. However, Menzel did tell the outlet earlier in the year that marriage was not always easy. She admitted that she did her best to make her marriage work.

"We work at it," she said. "I'm not going to glamorize it or glorify it - we go through tough times like everybody else, but we love each other very much. We try not to be away from each other for more than two weeks at a time, and we try to find new ways to communicate."

Nonetheless, as late as October, Diggs downplayed any friction according to Us Weekly.

"We're doing good!" he insisted.
