Taylor Swift has hinted that she and Jake Gyllenhaal have spoken about the songs he inspired on her album, Red, Us Weekly reported Monday.
Swift released her platinum album, Red, in October 2012. The lead single, 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' was widely believed to be about her ex-boyfriend, Gyllenhaal. The two dated for a few months prior to the release of her fourth album. In an interview with publication New York, the 23-year-old singer shared that she had spoken to her ex about the content of her songs.
Swift revealed that she "heard from the guy that most of Red is about."
Swift said that the Brokeback Mountain star was not angry about their relationship being documented for all the world to hear. He was very measured in his response.
"He was like, 'I just listened to the album, and that was a really bittersweet experience for me. It was like going through a photo album.' That was nice," Swift said. "Nicer than, like, the ranting, crazy e-mails I got from this one dude."
Swift also said that anyone who became involved with her should expect her to draw from those experiences. She believed her history was fair warning enough.
"It's a lot more mature way of looking at a love that was wonderful until it was terrible, and both people got hurt from it - but one of those people happened to be a songwriter. So what are you going to do? Did you not Wikipedia me before you called me up [for a date]?" she said.
