Prince William and Kate Middleton have confirmed the details for the baptism ceremony for Prince George on Wednesday, Oct. 23, E! News reported.
Prince George's christening will happen on Wednesday at 3 p.m at the Chapel Royal at St James's Palace. The service is expected to last for 45 minutes. Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Centerbury will perform the christening.Traditionally, the royal baptisms are held at the Buckingham Palace. But the Chapel has a sentimental value to Prince William as it is the same Chapel where he paid respects to the late Princess Diana, his mother.
There will be six godparents for Prince George. Only three were officially announced, namely: Fergus Boyd, Hugh van Cutsem and Emilia D'Erlanger. These three are very close friends of the royal couple.
The royal christening will only be a small gathering of family and close friends.
"It's not just intimate, it's absolutely private," a congregation member told E! News. "While it's stunning, and regal in a quiet way, it's a million miles from the pomp and circumstance of their wedding."
Prince George will wear a replica of the Honiton lace gown made for Queen Victoria's eldest daughter, Victoria in 1841. It was made by seamstress Janet Sutherland.
There will be special coins that will be released in order to mark the royal baby's christening.
