Jenni Rivera's daughter will play her on the silver screen, E! Online reported Thursday.
Janney "Chiquis" Marin confirmed to Univision that she will star as her late mother in an upcoming biopic. The 28-year-old Mexican American will star as her mother at the peak of Rivera's career. She is said to be taking acting and dancing lessons and has the family's full support.
Rivera died in December 2012 in a plane crash at the age of 43. Earlier in the week, Marin revealed that she and her mother were at odds before her untimely death. Their conflict centered on Rivera's belief that Marin had an affair with Rivera's third husband and stepfather, Esteban Loaiza.
"The world and my family lost Jenni on December 9, I lost my mother two months before on October 2. It was a misunderstanding," she said of the mother-daughter argument that led to their estrangement. "My world ended that day."
Rivera, a sensation in the Latin community, was under the belief that Marin had betrayed her. There were rumors that Marin had an affair with Rivera's husband, Esteban Loaiza. At the time of Rivera's death, she had filed for divorce from the former MLB pitcher Loaiza. She believed that Loaiza had an affair with her 28-year old daughter. Marin is her child with first husband, Jose Trinidad Marin.
"I don't understand how the rumor got started, this horrible thing that has caused so much suffering," Marin told Azteca America. "[Loaiza] has always been very respectful towards me and me with him."
