Miley Cyrus Is 'Happiest She's Ever Been' Without Liam Hemsworth, Says Dad Billy Ray Cyrus

Billy Ray Cyrus declared that his daughter, Miley Ray Cyrus, is the happiest that she has ever been, E! News reported Tuesday.

Billy Ray appeared on Entertainment Tonight Monday. He responded to his daughter's claims that she was the happiest she'd ever been in life during an exchange with Matt Lauer. She was promoting her new release, Bangerz.

"All I know for sure is I heard my daughter say today she's the happiest she's ever been in her life immediately following [the breakup]. That's when I saw Miley being so happy," he said.

The Wrecking Ball singer ended her four year relationship and engagement to actor Liam Hemsworth in October. The two had been plagued by conflict and rumored to be on the brink before their publicists confirmed their breakup.

"Somewhere along the stress and strain of different things I didn't see her smiling as often for a little while and, all of a sudden she's like the sun and when she smiles it's light...Everything happens for a reason and the main thing for me, as Miley's daddy, is she's happy," he said.

During her Today appearance, Miley made clear that she was not dwelling on the past. She was very much looking to the forward and happy with her present.

"I'm just focused on when I get to go on tour, which is going to be next year, which I'm really excited about. So that's really my focus. My plan is focusing on right now and continuing what I'm doing because I'm the happiest I've ever been in my whole life. So I'm really happy to be here," she said.
