Paula Patton has reacted to the now infamous performance between her husband Robin Thicke and Miley Cyrus, E! News reported Wednesday.
Thicke and Cyrus put on a sexually charged performance at the MTV VMA's in August. Cyrus gyrated against Thicke's crotch and twerked non stop. Cyrus also used a foam finger suggestively while wearing a nude colored outfit. The performance raised controversy, but not for Patton.
Patton appeared on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live and did not see what the big deal was.
"Honestly, they rehearsed for three days beforehand, and I don't know how not to dance with someone having their booty in your...all my friends do it like that" the actress said. "And, I don't really know what the big deal is."
Patton said she was also taken by surprise that anyone thought Cyrus would put on a demure performance. She referenced the fact that Cyrus' hit, We Can't Stop, is about drugs.
"I didn't know if they thought Miley was going to sit down and play piano like Alicia Keys. Her song's about taking Molly!" she said. "I don't understand. I didn't get the big deal."
Thicke also addressed his performance in last week's edition of Star Magazine. Much like his wife, he was not concerned with the backlash.
"We're entertainers, and the VMAs [are] the perfect place for a little shock and awe. We kind of knew when we were in rehearsal and we were like, 'Okay, if you touch me with your foam finger all over my crotch, obviously a few people are going to have something to say about this'. But that was the whole point!" he said.
