Cory Monteith's memory will remain in the hearts of fans especially in his final performance in the movie McCanick. The late Glee actor stars in the film directed by Josh C. Waller premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on Monday, Sept. 9, according to Us Weekly.
Monteith has an interesting role in the small and dark drama. In the film, Monteith plays a small-time drug dealer Simon Weeks. The character had a tough childhood which resulted in him working in the streets. In his first scene, Monteith is wearing a hoodie with stringy hair. He was also smoking a cigarette. This is quite the opposite of how fans see him on Glee as Finn Hudson.
Weeks is being targeted by a tortured detective played by David Morse. It was not explained why the detective is quite obsessed with the character of Weeks. There were a lot of confusing flashbacks.
Even though Weeks act out as a tough guy, one can see glimpses of the Finn Hudson character in some of the scenes. Even though he's down a dark path, viewers would still want him to make it in the end. Though Monteith is a drug dealer, there were no scenes in the movie where he actually does drugs.
"He was excited. He was very happy with it, with the work that he had done," director Josh C. Waller told Us Weekly of the late Glee actor. "He seemed moved, emotionally. He sent me a really beautiful email [when the film wrapped] just stating how much excitement he had and how much pride he had on the work that he had done. Which I'm glad, because I know I thought he did an incredible job. Sometimes, for actors, it's hard to watch themselves on screen or to acknowledge when they've done a good job. He didn't come right out and say, 'I did great!' But he was very proud."
