While appearing on GMA, she announced a contest for her fans. They could enter a competition where she would appear at their high school. It is Perry’s way of giving back to her fans who have helped make her latest song Roar a hit on Billboard’s Hot 100.
Roar rose from 2 to 1 on the charts. In doing so, Perry's lead single from her forthcoming album dethroned Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines. Blurred Lines had been the number one in the country for the past 12 weeks. Roar accomplished the feat of dethroning Thicke by selling 448,000 in downloads for the week ending Sept. 1. Perry's sales were helped by her performance at the MTV Video Music Awards. To date, Roar has sold more than 1 million in its three weeks of release.
