Eileen Davidson will be returning to the Young and the Restless, CBS Soaps In Depth reported Tuesday.
A spokesperson for the CBS soap opera said that Davidson would return to her popular role of Ashley Abbott this fall. She would appear for three episodes in October. No other details were announced, but it is a shock to soap fans. Earlier this month, she stunned all with her decision to quit Days of Our Lives a year after her heralded return.
Davidson explained her Days exit on being burnout and wanting time for her family. On Facebook, she stressed her desire to spend more time with her family.
"My last day was July 16 but I will be airing until November," she revealed. "I'm taking some time off to enjoy my family however I am not retiring. Not really sure what's next for me work wise. But I am looking forward to figuring it out! Thanks to all of you for your support and love. I've had an incredible time on DOOL this year....."
At the time, she was coy about a return to Y&R. She explained to TV Guide earlier this month her thought process about returning to the CBS drama where she played Ashley for almost 20 years, off and on.
"Where acting fits into my life has changed. I was treading water on Y&R, so being written off that show was for the best. When it happened I sure didn't think so. I was, like, "What the f---?" But I soon saw it as amazing. I went back to Days and have had the most extraordinary time!" she said.
