Katherine Jackson has given an update on the progress of her recovering granddaughter, Paris, E! News reported Monday.
Katherine granted an interview to Hello! magazine and commented about the state of her 15-year-old granddaughter. Paris has been in treatment since she attempted suicide in June by taking pills and cutting her wrists with a knife. The matriarch said that Paris was in a good place.
"She's my baby," she said. "It's hard for me, really hard. All I wanted these kids to be is happy. The night [Michael Jackson] died Paris was crying and said 'I want to go and see Daddy, I don't want to be without him."
The matriarch of the Jackson reflected on how Paris has had to adjust since the 2009 death of her father, Michael. She noted how Paris and her brothers Prince and Blanket were notoriously sheltered during their early childhood. They would walk around with masks to hide their faces.
"I had thought about it and I said 'I am not going to raise them like that. But Michael had a good reason. He was trying to protect them...He instilled good manners but it's a different generation, of course, and I don't understand the whole social media thing. They are always on their phones."
