O.J. Simpson was granted parole for a burglary conviction in 2008, but he will not be leaving prison anytime soon according to CBS News.
On Wednesday, the Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners approved the imprisoned former NFL star's request for parole. In 2008, Simpson was convicted of kidnapping and armed robbery involving the holdup of two sports memorabilia dealers at a Las Vegas hotel room. He was sentenced to 33 years in jail and would most likely would have died behind bars if he had not been granted parole.
Simpson appeared before the parole board last week. He apologized for his actions that placed him behind bars and said that he regretted. Simpson also stated that he had been a model prisoner.
"I just wish I never went to that room," he said.
However, despite the parole that Simpson was granted, he will not be leaving prison anytime soon. Simpson still must serve time for four weapon enhancement sentences. That is followed by consecutive terms for two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. Simpson could spend another four years in prison before he is released.
