The announcement is on the heels of the chart topping success of his single, Blurred Lines. Even if the 36-year-old singer is considered past his prime by some, his song's provocative music video has more than 100 million views on YouTube. Blurred Lines has also bumped Daft Punk's almighty Get Lucky out of the No. 1 spot on most airplay charts.
"It's just one of those songs that loosens people up," said Pharrell Williams to LA Times, who produced and co-wrote "Blurred Lines." "With everybody so anxious about everything going on in the world, people need something to help them be happy again."
