Kristen Wiig has played many characters in her comedic career, but now she's performing the part of Brick Tamland's wife in the movie "Anchorman: The Legend Continues".
America's heart broke when Wiig left "Saturday Night Live" back in May 2012, and we wondered if we would ever laugh again. During an NPR interview on "Here's The Thing With Alec Baldwin," Wiig said now that she's done with "SNL" she wants to move in another direction.
"I want to live in Paris and paint," Wiig continued. "I want to do a lot of different things."
We all sighed in discontent. But sure enough, Wiig had not deserted us on a humorless island. We will see her on the big screen on Dec. 30 and we couldn't be more ecstatic.
"So excited Kristen Wiig has joined our cast for anchorman2," Christina Applegate tweeted. "Going 2 be best movie ever made. Besides the best movies ever made."
We don't doubt it.
We're glad Wiig didn't take a hiatus from her comedic talents like Justin Timberlake did with music. We all know what a six-year break could do to a person's talent. Suit and tie, Justin? Really?
So what has Wiig been doing since she last left "SNL"? Well, she played the character Imogene in the movie "Girl Most Likely", a comedy drama that reveals the life of a New York writer who has recently been dumped.
"Without giving too much away, people think that I tried to kill myself," Wiig told Baldwin during their interview. The comedian even said she would love to do a drama. "There are a couple of things that I'm looking at doing next that aren't comedies at all," she said.
We hope you saw "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy"! Because that is, in fact, one of the most iconic comedies of Ferrell's career.
Wiig is also said to be involved in a few movies that are in post-production right now. For someone who just left "SNL" this woman has her plate full.
Here is Wiig's emotional "SNL" send-off:
