According to People.com, Mary O’Connor was Hefner’s secretary for 40 years. With Hefner for three marriages, it was actually O’Connor who got the Playboy tycoon back together with his runaway bride, Crystal Harris. Harris, 26, was initially supposed to marry Hefner, 86, in June 2011. She ended up calling off their engagement, but the two reunited and wed this past New Year’s Eve at the Playboy mansion.
This past June Hugh Hefner tweeted the reasoning behind his reconciliation with Crystal Harris … Mary O’Connor!
“It’s Mary O’Connor that brought Crystal Harris back,” Hefner had tweeted. “Crystal was miserable & said so. Mary told Crystal to write & tell me, which she did.”
Just this past Saturday Hefner told fans that his longtime friend wasn’t doing well and that he was headed to visit her.
“Mary has our prayers,” he tweeted. “We all love her.”
Hef's long time secretary & my dear friend Mary O'Connor has passed away. It's a very sad day here at the Playboy Mansion. We love you Mary.
