If you thought the Tenacious D would fade away in 2013 you were wrong. Jack Black and Kyle Gass aren't going anywhere.
In an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone the Grammy nominated band talked about their plans for the New Year.
The D's 2012 comeback "Rize of the Fenix" has earned the rock jesters a Grammy nomination, and Black seems relieved to be validated by the music industry.
"Did our comeback [work] -- did we indeed actually come back?" he asked. "[The Grammys] feels like, wow, maybe we won't [end up] like Vincent Van Gogh -- we won't have to chop off our ear and only be recognized as geniuses long after we're dead."
Next up for Tenacious D is an acoustic tour, which Black and Gass see as a chance to connect with their adoring fans in a more intimate manner.
"As good as our band is, there is a magic to just me and Kage," said Black. "When me and Kage melt your faces off without any electric guitars and no drums, it's almost, like, more impressive?"
The band also hinted at an upcoming music festival this fall, which may feature an impressive roster including "Flight of the Conchords," "The Lonely Island" and even Neil Young.
"We're talkin' bot Santa Monica Pier," revealed Black. "October 19th. Circle that in your calendar. Now there's no guarantee who's gonna be on the bill -- it might just be Tenacious D and Weird Al. But that's a long ways off. And the D is coming to a town near you and you don't wanna miss the old-schoolness of me and KG, because it's b*n*r-riffic."
