It seems like the world just can't get enough of Beyoncé these days. The paparazzi hounds her for photos of Blue Ivy, her music videos blows up online and instantly go viral, and she's even booked to play the biggest concerts of the year: the Super Bowl half-time show.
So what's next for Queen Bee? She's going back to her roots. Beyoncé broke the news on her website that she's getting the old band together for a small set at the super-bowl in front of a packed stadium and millions of viewers at home. Apparently Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams now constitute a "super group" where they once were simply that one pretty girl with the rich dad and her two backup singers/dancers.
But that's not our gripe with Destiny's Child. No, what's got us writing a rant against the R&B trio is the news that they are coming out with a quote-unquote "new" album called "Love Songs." Awesome! We initially thought. Then we learned a little more about the album.
"Love Songs" will be a 13-track album featuring the group's best romantic hits from their oeuvre (ie: "Emotion," "Cater 2 U," and "Say My Name"). The record will also feature ONE NEW SONG called "Nuclear." That's right, the new Destiny's Child album is basically a greatest hits record with a bonus new track.
The worst part of all this is that people will probably buy the album even though it clearly thought up by Beyoncé's accountants as a way to squeeze a bit more money out of her fans. Of course she won't really make that much money of "Love Songs" thanks to a lagging music sales and a dying music industry largely caused by little scams like these. That should be enough to make it all OK, but it's not, because it just shows us that the same tactics that destroyed an industry are still being deployed. We expect these kind of scams from the suits in the industry, but we thought you were better than this Bey!
