Buzz Aldrin Divorce: Third Wife Lois Driggs Cannon Takes Half Of Astronaut's Fortune In Split

It appears that even our greatest heroes aren't immune to the perils of long-term relationships. Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, who is 82-years-old, finalized his divorce from his third wife, Lois Driggs Cannon, and in the process, lost about half of his fortune.

In case you've been living under a rock your entire life, Astronaut Buzz Aldrin is revered as the second man to walk on the moon. Aldrin was second to step foot on the lunar surface only to his lifelong friend that recently passed away, Astronaut Neil Armstrong.

"[Lois Driggs Cannon] is set to pocket half of his $475,000 bank account and 50 percent of any profit he makes from his businesses," reports the New York Daily News. "On top of that, she'll receive $9,500 a month in spousal support and 30 percent of Aldrin's annual income, which tops about $600,000."

Cannon appears to sought as much as possible during the divorce. She even gets to keep her 1988 Mercedes that has the now-ironic license plates that read "Moon Gal." Cannon and Aldrin never had any kids during their 23-year marriage.

Aldrin filed for divorce in June 2011 according to the Huffington Post. The marriage of 23 years was broken about by irreconcilable differences. Aldrin had previously been married twice -- to Joan Archer and Beverly Zile previously.
