Will the Kim Kardashian curse destroy Kanye West's popularity? After the world found out Kim was pregnant with Kanye's baby, media speculators have been postulating when Yeezy's popularity will begin to wane. The Kardashian Curse (How is it not spelled Kurse? Come on media!) refers to a phenomenon that has affected past boyfriends Reggie Bush, Kris Humphries and Lamar Odom. After each athlete began dating Kardashian they began to see a noticeable dip in their popularity, as tracked by Nielsen.
"Between Lamar Odom, Reggie Bush and Kris Humphries, those guys have all had their N-Score hurt, and it isn't because of their awareness. Their awareness has actually shot up, in every case, but their negative appeal has also shot up," SVP of Sports for Nielsen Stephen Master told The Huffington Post. "You need to do well, and you also need to date someone who people like. The Kardashians are controversial. They have really negatively impacted the marketability of [Odom, Bush and Humphries]."
For example, Reggie Bush had only a 10 percent 'dislike' rating when he began dating Kardashian, but the Kardashian curse soon dropped him down to a 26 percent 'dislike' rating. The same thing happened to Kris Humphries. After being married to Kardashian for a whopping 72 days, the pair got divorced and Humphries was labeled the "NBA's Most Disliked Player" by Forbes magazine.
Some people are speculating that Kanye will be immune to the Kardashian Curse because, unlike her previous victims, Kanye is not an athlete. Whether or not this exempts him from the Kardashian Curse, only time will tell.
What do YOU think? Is the Kardashian Curse real? Shouldn't it be called the Kardashian Kurse?
