Spice Girls fans - We have good news and bad news. The good news is that the Spice Girls may be reuniting for a new album and tour. The bad news is that Victoria Beckham (aka Posh Spice) may be replaced!
Rumors of a girl power reunion without the famous brunette have been circulating for months, but the latest snub from Beckham may have pushed her four band members over the edge.
Last week the Spice Girls had a red carpet event at Picadilly Theatre in London for their new musical, "Viva Forever." But while Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Mel B and Mel C walked the red carpet, their fifth member Victoria Beckham was nowhere to be seen. Beckham later arrived with her husband, soccer star David Beckham and their three sons, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz. According to the Herald Sun, the Beckham's blamed traffic for their late arrival to the musical, but sources also revealed that Posh Spice didn't join her former gal pals inside.
With the latest snub, an insider explained to PerezHilton.com that Mel C, Mel B, Emma and Geri may be going ahead with a new album and tour...and replacing Victoria!
"The girls are going it alone without Victoria. They are keen to get back together and were trying to work out if they could do it as a four-piece," revealed the insider. "I think they know this is the last chance for them to get the band going again. But the Spice Girls as a foursome is not going to get them another record deal or sell out big venues. They need an extra cherry on the cake. And that leads to the next question: who do they replace her with? At the moment it's all being done in a very cloak-and-dagger way and not through official channels."
While Beckham reportedly "respects" and "supports" the foursome's decision to move forward, a new name is already being thrown around as her replacement.
According to GigWise.com, the Spice Girls would like to add Sugababe member Heidi Range to their group. Don't throw a fit (or get your hopes up) just yet, because Melanie C and Emma Bunton took to Twitter to dispel the rumors.
"It seems there has been some Spice related nonsense written today. None of the Spice Girls would ever or could ever be replaced," Melanie C (aka Sporty Spice) tweeted on Sunday.
"None of the Spice Girls would ever or could ever be replaced, nonsense in the papers!!!" Bunton (aka Baby Spice) added over the weekend, re-tweeting her bandmate.
