George W. Bush's daughter, Jenna Bush Hager, is expecting her first child. A friend told the Daily Mail that the former White House twin is "thrilled."

In the last four years, Hager, now 31, has gotten married, signed on for a "Today" show gig and recently secured a deal with Southern Living magazine to act as an editor. The bubbly blond who got into repeated problems for underage drinking has more than cleaned up her image. Did we all underestimate her?

When she came to the White House in 2001, she was viewed as the rebellious wild child, while her twin sister, Barbara, was considered the hands-in-her-lap student. But that has all changed.

Recently, Southern Living magazine hired Hager to bring new readership to a magazine that has a median age of 51.2, an age that far exceeds the advertising sweet spot between 18 and 34.

The twin no longer lives in Texas, but she will always love her hometown. "I'm kind of like a homesick Texan living in New York," she told The New York Times. "I grew up reading this magazine. My mom had a subscription. It's something that I've always known about."

"I did get the sense that her heart is still very much in the South," Lindsay Bierman, Southern Living's editor in chief, said. "I felt her passion for the South was going to translate into what she would do for Southern Living."

Hager will write a monthly column called Paper Napkin Interview and a blog called The Daily South. The Southern Living blog will also share content with another blog called The Novo Project, which Hager started with her friend Mia Baxter.

Since Southern Living was founded in 1966, it has focused on easy, quick-fix suppers and house plans. But despite the much-loved recipes and decorating tips, the circulation has declined a bit in recent years.

"There's a new generation of Southern women that I'd love to speak to," Hager said. "Entertaining and food and all the things that Southern Living does so well is something I don't do on the 'Today' show."
