Hugh Hefner And Crystal Harris Are Engaged Again; Is Crystal Harris After Hef's Money?

Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris have decided to get hitched even though Harris called off a June 2011 wedding five days before the ceremony. 

Hefner, 86, and Harris, 26, say they will walk down the aisle on New Year's Eve, according to new reports, leaving observers perplexed yet again as to why a gorgeous playmate would marry a man six decades her senior.

When Hefner founded Playboy magazine in 1953 he was considered quite a catch. Though he hadn't yet amassed the wealth he has today, within a few years he was quickly viewed as an up-and-comer in two worlds: sex and magazine publishing.

Hefner left a writing job at Esquire in January 1952 after they refused to give him a $5 raise. Shortly afterwards, he mortgaged his furniture in order to get a bank loan of $600. Then he was able to raise $8,000 from 45 investors to launch Playboy. Six years later, he divorced his college sweetheart, Mildred Williams.

Over the years, Hefner accumulated a small fortune, first from magazines, later a television network. Now friends and fans are understandably concerned that Harris only cares about Hefner's estimated $43 million net worth. Though his net worth reportedly took a beating as pornography became so available on television and the Internet, to most people $43 million is still considered a king's ransom.

When Hefner and Harris became engaged in 2010, Hef tweeted: "When I gave Crystal the ring, she burst into tears. This is the happiest Christmas weekend in memory," later adding: "Yes, the ring I gave Crystal is an engagement ring. I didn't mean to make a mystery out of it. A very merry Christmas to all."

Harris, who was Playboy Playmate of the Month in December 2009, was overjoyed, tweeting: "Hef and I are TRENDING on @twitter!!!! WOW!!!"
