Christian Bale has bailed on the movie "Child 44," according to Reuters, the latest setback for producer Ridley Scott's newest movie. Bale bailed in a meeting with the filmmakers on Tuesday in which they were discussing the direction of the movie.
"Child 44" is set in the 1950's, and the story revolves around a Soviet policeman who is investigating a series of child murders. Christian Bale denied the lead role in the movie, according to TheWrap.com.
The movie, based on Tom Rob Smith's book of the same name, is being written by Richard Price. Ridley Scott, who has his name attached to big movies such as "Prometheus" and the TV show "The Good Wife," is producing it. LionsGate/Summit is no longer involved in the project.
