Anne Hathaway, who most recently starred in The Dark Knight Rises and will be in the upcoming film Les Miserables, is in talk to star in Steven Spielberg's Robopocalypse.
Academy Award nominee, Anne Hathaway, is contemplating joining legendary director Steven Spielberg in his new sci-fi thriller, Robopocalypse. Hathaway, who has been in high demand since starring in the final film of the Dark Knight trilogy, will be joining Chris Hemsworth. Hathaway is also starring in the new film, Les Miserables, based on the hit musical. She will be playing Fantine, alongside Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman.
Spielberg has been quietly producing many past few years, his last movie in the director's chair in the science fiction genre was Minority Report, starring Tom Cruise, where he created a world where the police knew about crimes before they happened, and were able to stop it. Spielberg has been busy working on Lincoln, a biopic about the American president Abraham Lincoln, played by Academy Award winner Daniel Day Lewis. Lincoln is expected to be a huge critical success, and will most likely be a big winner in the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards next year.
With Robopocalypse, Spielberg returns to producing high-action films, but also movies that have substance and make you think as well, like Minority Report. Spielberg discussed his upcoming movie, saying:
"It's a movie about a global war between man and machine. I had a great time creating the future on 'Minority Report,' and it's a future that is coming true faster than any of us thought it would. 'Robopocalypse' takes place in 15 or 20 years, so it'll be another future we can relate to. It's about the consequences of creating technologies which make our lives easier, and what happens when that technology becomes smarter than we are. It's not the newest theme, it's been done throughout science fiction, but it's a theme that becomes more relevant every year."
With Anne Hathaway rumored to be added to the cast, Robopocalypse will be another star-studded thriller from the long-time director.
Robopolcalypse is scheduled to be released in 2014.
