According to various news outlets, Prince William's lawyers have decided to file criminal charges against the French reporter that took topless pictures of his wife, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge.
The Palace has already started legal actions against the French magazine, Closer, that published the picture of the young couple vacationing in Provence.
According to an anonymous spokeswoman, the British Royal Family would be filing a suit with French prosecutors, explaining that the couple was vacationing and the pictures are a blatant invasion of privacy.
"The complaint concerns the taking of photographs of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge whilst on holiday and the publication of those photographs in breach of their privacy," the spokeswoman said to Fox News.
The pictures have caused quite an uproar among the public, most of whom think its despicable that the paparazzi would be so intruding and disrespectful to the British Royal Family.
The Italian media group, Mondadori, owns both Closer and an Italian gossip paper, Chi, which said that they would be publishing 26 pictures on Monday. The British Royal Family would be going after both papers and the media conglomerate that owns them. Interestingly, it hasn't been announced that Prince William's lawyers would be pursuing legal action against the Irish Daily Star, which republished the pictures.
British tabloid magazines have refused to publish the photos and have been united in denouncing them as an invasion of privacy.
Also interestingly, the British Royal Family hasn't tried to do the same for the nude photos of Prince Harry that appeared in British tabloids after a weekend in Las Vegas.
The British Royal Family has been plagued by the paparazzi for years. Princess Diana, William and Harry's mother, died in a car accident in 1997. The coroners report said that paparazzi, who were tailing the vehicle, were part of the reason the car crashed.
