The people behind the newest James Bond film, "Skyfall," are going all out to ensure the film's success.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Adele, the British pop singing sensation who dominated the Grammy's last year, would be offering her services for the theme song of the film.
"Skyfall," starring Daniel Craig as Bond, Javier Bardem as an yet-unknown villian, and Ralph Fiennes, and with "American Beauty" director Sam Mendes at the helm, has faced it fair share of problems. It all started after "Quantum of Solace" was released in 2008, where it was panned by critics, and failed to live up to the hype of Craig's first movie as Bond, "Casino Royale." After "Solace," the studio in charge of the Bond series, MGM, ran into financial troubles, which delayed production on the film. But, it looks like we'll finally be seeing another installment of James Bond.
Adele, whose album, "21," won a plethora of awards at the Grammys last year, will be singing the theme song for the film, according to news sources. While rumors of Adele joining "Skyfall" were circulating for months now, nothing was confirmed, until now. Screenrant notes that Adele joins a prestigious group of artists:
"The merry melodies of the James Bond franchises have been performed by quite the diverse collection of musicians over the years, including Paul McCartney & the Wings, Nancy Sinatra, Alicia Keys with Jack White, Rita Coolidge, A-ha, Shirley Bassey, Carly Simon, Sheena Easton, Duran Duran, Chris Cornell, Garbage, and Madonna - among many others. Opinions vary about which artists delivered the best tunes - McCartney's "Live and Let Die" usually ranks high - and whose Bond theme songs were, at best, utterly forgettable."
Judging from the talent surrounding the newest James Bond film, there's little doubt that Adele will shine in her small, but important, role in "Skyfall."
"Skyfall," featuring Daniel Craig and Judi Dench, is coming out on November 9th.
