Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are officially husband and wife, but according to several reports, the couple's guests arrived in Charleston, S.C, not for a wedding but for what they were told would be Lively's belated birthday celebration - the "Gossip Girl" starlet turned 25 on Aug. 25.
According to People magazine, a team of Martha Stewart advisers along with wedding planner Tara Guérard, worked with the newlyweds to transform their "rustic" Charleston, S.C, ceremony into an "intimate, personalized party" for family and friends.
"From the heartfelt ceremony to the fun-filled carnival hour and elegant reception, it was a truly enchanting celebration," said the magazine, which according to E! News, will reveal more details about the clandestine nuptial in their December issue.
The leggy Lively was draped in a tailored Marchesa couture bridal ball gown with a hand-draped silk tulle bodice garlanded with crystal and rose gold embroidery. As suspected, the bride strutted down the aisle in Christian Louboutin shoes - she's reportedly the designer's muse and dear friend.
Lively foreshadowed the designer would have a hand at her dream wedding earlier this year, revealing to Marie Claire magazine,"What I planned before I got into the business has changed. Now I'm like, 'Hmm, I wonder what shoes Christian [Louboutin] is going to make me. And which couture houses should I go to?"
Her bridesmaids were likewise clad in Marchesa, they wore blush silk chiffon gowns with similar crystal details from the bride's gown and were also shod in Christian Louboutins.
Reynolds and his groomsmen looked dapper in their Burberry suits and custom leather suspenders designed by his close friend, Christopher Bailey.
The bride and groom exchanged rings from famed Hollywood jeweler, Lorraine Schwartz.
So, how did the high profile couple manage to keep their wedding so secret? Well, it's a southern thing. "In the South, planners are used to being hush-hush and low-key about events no matter what. It's just how they do thing," celebrity wedding consultant Harmony Walton told E! News.
"Ryan, who has been a long-time fan of Charleston, chose to mark this special occasion in one of his favorite towns," sources from Martha Stewart magazine said.
We're sure the charming town's lack of loose lips weighed heavily upon his decision.
"Over the past few months, celebrities have been deliberately going with vendors, planners and locations that are outside of the typical Hollywood wedding game, as a way to keep their weddings secret," "Smaller vendors know that celebrity events can make or break them, so they're much more likely to keep their mouths shut," Walton continued.
