Known for its wacky stars and even wackier fashion, The MTV Video Music Awards, which was held at the Los Angeles Staples Center Thursday night, was relatively subdued -- both sartorially and performance-wise. Even with the absence of shock, a few starlets still mystified us with their fashion forward styles.
Take a look at a few style standouts from last night's VMAs:
Rihanna
The mistress of shock, appeared as demure as a rose on last night's red carpet. RiRi was draped in a simple Grecian-inspired white gown, which she paired with strappy sandals and her trademark fire engine red lips. Of course, her chic new pixie do' was the cherry on top.
Taylor swift
Swift kept it white hot. The country darling slipped her willowy curves into a sleek white J. Mendel pantsuit, Sparkly Ofira earrings and a Lorraine Schwartz ring, and like Riri, her crimson pout stood in stark contrast against her all white ensemble.
Emma Watson
Don't call Watson a wallflower, "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" actress wore an eye-catching mixed-print neon mini and lace-front heels. Her Heidi-inspired braid looked as cute as a button.
Pink
The proud new mother looked elegant in a slinky gunmetal gown, and Loree Rodkin jewels. However, she kept it rock-star chic with her daring platinum blonde hair flip - kind of reminiscent of Jimmy Neutron, don't you agree?
Miley Cyrus
Miley wowed in a sheer-paneled, plunging black Emilio Pucci gown, Edie Parker clutch and Lorraine Schwartz jewels. Like Pink, her now infamous hair, had much edge.
Katy Perry
Katy-is that you? The sartorial oddball opted for a feminine floral Elie Saab gown with a train and cascading, loose waves.
Zoe Saldana
Saldana was the picture of modish elegance. The talented actress showcased her enviable gams in a baby-pink mini-dress, strappy sandals, and a wispy faux bob.
