If you're a 'Truebie' who was disappointed about the lack of Alcide/Sookie romance during season five of "True Blood," we have some hope for season six. Showrunner (soon to be former showrunner) Alan Ball revealed that hope remains for a little Alsookie action in the future.
"True Blood" fans will remember that season five kicked off with Sookie fatally shooting Alcide's crazy and drugged out ex-girlfriend, Debbie. Initially trying to hide the fact that the wolf's former beau had her head blown off and is buried in the backyard, Sookie eventually revealed the dirty truth...and he was not happy.
Alcide's anger over Debbie's death didn't stop him from covering up Sookie's murder though, and it actually lead to a pretty steamy hook up scene -- that resulted with Sookie puking on his shoes.
A murdered ex-girlfriend and a little vomit didn't end up putting a damper on their relationship, but some unfortunate timing with Russell Edgington, Lilith and a V-crazed pack master did seem to do the trick. However, Alan Ball wants to reassure fans that hope for love between the half-fairy and wolf remains.
"That doesn't mean that that door is closed," Ball explained to TVLine.com of the Sookie/Alcide romance. "All of these supernatural guys in town carry a big torch for Sookie -- even Eric, who doesn't want to admit it."
But after four seasons of wild Sookie romances between Bill and Eric, and drooling from Alcide, why did "True Blood" put a damper on the blonde's love life in season five? According to Ball, its because of past seasons that have focused on Sookie falling in love with people. "It seemed like she had enough on her plate this season to not just [say], 'Okay, now Sookie's gonna fall in love with Alcide!" Ball added.
