Giuliana & Bill Rancic are finally parents.
The Rancics, who documented their difficulty to conceive on their namesake reality show "Giuliana & Bill" welcomed son Edward Duke Rancic, via gestational surrogate on Wednesday. The little tyke was born at 10:12 p.m. in a Denver hospital, weighing a healthy 7 pounds and 4 ounces and measuring 20 inches.
"Bill and I are blessed beyond words to welcome Edward into our lives," a euphoric Giuliana told E! News. "Thank you so much to everyone who supported us along the way. We are so in love with the little guy already!"
Giuliana's desire to have children played a significant role in her decision to undergo a double mastectomy after she was diagnosed with breast cancer. The medication she would have received for treatment would have been detrimental to a growing fetus.
It also didn't help that she suffered a miscarriage before the diagnosis was made - which crushed her spirits. "I said, 'I'm not doing this again. I can't.' I was angry at life and at God," she admitted.
The E! reality co-host found strength in her husband. "Bill is unbelievable. He lets me cry when I want to cry, he doesn't say, 'Hey, look at that person who's worse off than you are.' He just lets me feel what I'm feeling." She told E! news.
"I think a lot of us think we're invincible. But we have to start putting ourselves on the to-do list. I just want women out there to know if you can just find it early, you'll be OK. I found it early." Fortunately, the couple decided to persevere and give in vitro fertilization another chance.
"One of the things we've always tried to do is help others with our story," Bill said on Today in April when they announced they were expecting. "Whether it's with the infertility issues, whether it's with the breast cancer, we said we're gonna turn these negatives into positives. And if we can help others by sharing our story, then it's worth it."
