Chad 'Ochocinco' Johnson, 34, just can't seem to catch a break, not that he deserves it after allegedly head-butting his soon-to-be former wife, Evelyn Lozada during a heated argument over a box of condoms.
The embattled former Miami Dolphins wide receiver can now add just one more nuisance to his financial woes. After losing his job, his wife, and his reality T.V. show, the government of St. Maarten expects a refund of the money it spent on his lavish nuptial-to the tunes of $90,000. Yikes.
The tiny Caribbean island initially agreed to pay the large sum in hopes of cashing in from the publicity that was bound to be generated from the couple's reality show, "Ev and Ocho." But since the show was cancelled after their domestic incident, hope for new tourist visitations have since been dashed.
St. Maarten Finance Minister Roland Tuit said, "When someone is investing in business it's a risk they are taking and if something happens then they will have to deal with the consequences. Naturally, we have a contract with Johnson and Lozada and that contract has some clauses inside of it and St. Maarten will use those clauses if necessary."
According to the Saint Martin News, Prime Minister Sarah Wescot Williams did not support funding Johnson and Lozada's wedding.
"If the contract isn't respected and VH1 doesn't ever air the Ev & Ocho wedding special, the Saint Martin government will take legal action and demand its $90,000 back." She said.
According to Davie police officer Christopher Epps, Lozada suffered "a laceration on the center of her forehead approximately 3'' in length." After the violent assault.
The couple was ordered to avoid contact with each other and Johnson was subsequently released, with bail set at $2,500 -- after being charged with simple domestic battery and a misdemeanor.
