With the phenomenal success of her popular fantasy novels, the "Harry Potter" series, it came as no surprise when J.K Rowling told NBC correspondent, Meredith Vieira, she wanted to retain a bit of Hogwarts magic by building a "Harry Potter" inspired theme park.
"[The park] will be amazing because it will be a place that I can take all three of my children," said the author, adding, "the world hasn't ended for me. So even though the books are done, I feel like I still have a connection to Harry's world."
Rowling has amassed a world of wealth with her novels and has therefore decided to offer her children, David, 9, and Mackensie, 7, a glimpse of her lucrative imagination in the form of two 40ft treehouses. Her husband, Dr. Neil Murray, who is also an author, has applied to have permission for the massive structures, which will feature a rope bridge, trampolines, trap doors, and secret tunnels at their Edinburgh home. However, the design will need to be approved for safety before building commences.
A source at Edinburgh Council said: "It would be highly unlikely that JK Rowling will not get permission for these tree houses. They are only for her children to play in, she's not seeking permission for residential permission for them."
"Nobody around here is going to make a fuss about the tree houses for her children. It's her cash she can do what she wants with it." said one of Rowling's neighbors.
"Miss Rowling has spent a lot of money on trees surrounding her property so even if these tree houses are huge nobody but her is going to see them. In any case she's extremely nice and well-liked around here."
