ABC's drama series, "Revenge" will be more drama-filled as ever with its newest cast member. Jennifer Jason Leigh, which you may remember as Stacy Hamilton in 1982's cultish comedy "Fast Times at Ridgemont High," landed the recurring role as the mother of the stunningly cunning Emily Thorpe.
"So we're going to need somebody that can play volatile and dangerous; all of the scariest parts of Emily's personality are going to be present and apparent and a little bit out of control in her mother. But at the same time, what works so great for Emily is that sweet façade, so this woman needs to feel like she's got potential for kindness. You look at her and you don't know that she's as damaged as she is inside. But you'll quickly learn that this is a very dangerous person."Show creator Mike Kelley reported to TVLine.
Leigh has played her fair share of neurotic characters along the years. One of her most memorable roles was Hedy, the psychotic woman who stalked her roommate, played by Bridget Fonda, in 1992's thriller "Single White Female." We're sure she won't disappoint as Thorpe's presumably demised, slightly off-kilter mommy.
"What you're going to discover about the woman who was Emily's mother is the circumstances under which they were separated, and you're going to find that there's some deep psychological issues with her, which I think is going to be fun for us to explore," said Kelley
"For Emily," he said, "she's going to start seeing some of the psychological damage that her mother has in herself."
