Dexter Season 7 Spoilers: Captain Maria LaGuerta Makes Shocking Discovery

Season 6 of "Dexter" was by far the most suspenseful yet. After deciding to tell Dexter (her brother) about the romantic feelings she harbors towards him, Deb, unfortunately came face to face with his dark passenger. Finding him in a church, plunging a knife into Travis Marshall's chest, the season's wackjob.

The question on everyone's mind is off course, how will Deb handle the situation? Will she turn her beloved brother in to Miami Metro, or accept his true nature? She has already proven not to always follow a straight path to the law, covering for her mentor, Deputy Chief Tom Matthews, after a prostitute ends up dead.

Lauren Velez, the actress who plays Captain Maria LaGuerta, has revealed some juicy season 7 secrets to the Huffington Post. LaGuerta is set to make the mother of all discoveries, one that may eventually put an end to Dexter Morgan's reign as the "Bay Harbor Butcher."

How's this? We've always known that Laguerta is great at manipulating circumstances and making strategic political moves for her career, but now we will actually find out what a good detective she is-what a good cop she is. She uncovers something this season that could potentially unravel everything," said Velez.

Executive producer Sara Colleton spilled the beans about LaGuerta's big find in the upcoming season of "Dexter" in an interview with TVGuide.com.

Dexter's blood slide gets found by Lieutenant LaGuerta (Lauren Velez) because he loses it in the chaos that ensues and she immediately recognizes it's his. The only other time that she had seen this blood slide was in the copy case of the Bay Harbor Butcher. Her dear friend Sergeant Doakes, everyone thought he was the Bay Harbor Butcher, and thought that when he died, the Bay Harbor Butcher died with him. Now, she begins to suspect, "Is the Bay Harbor Butcher still alive and how can I set about proving the innocence of my friend Sergeant Doakes?" That is something that's a silent thing at the start, but it's, again, going to be eventually working its way back to Dexter. It's going to be very interesting to see if she can exonerate him," said Colleton

According to Velez, "Laguerta re-opens her own investigation into the Bay Harbor Butcher case."

With Dexter's life dangling in the hands of Captain LaGuerta, it's a fair assessment that she will inevitably become just another obstacle that Dexter needs to eliminate. Velez agrees with the sentiment because when asked about whether her character may end up as one of Dexter's plastic bound victims, she replied, "I have no idea. But I would think potentially, yes. This is "Dexter."
