Rihanna’s ‘Gran Gran’ Dolly, Dies

Rihanna's beloved Grandmother, Clara "Dolly" Braithwaite, has finally succumbed to cancer.

In retrospect, her grandmother's passing might have been the reason for her recent on-stage debacle at Sweden's Peace & Love Festival, which left many fans dismayed, and outraged.

The "We Found Love" singer was reported to have been very close with her grandmother. She recently spent Father's Day at her hospital bedside. Feeling bitter sweet about the nature of her visit, she tweeted, "My heart smiled and cried all at once."

Grieve-stricken, the Bajan singer sent a heartfelt tribute via Twitter in honor of her Gran Gran.

 "Goodbye #grangranDolly get your beauty rest until I see you," she wrote, later concluding with, "#grangranDolly that is all."

Ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, whom Rihanna had a tumultuous relationship with a few years ago, was restrained in his condolences, purposely omitting his former flames name from his tweet.

"Praying for family and the lost loved one. She was like my grandmother. Love you GRAN GRAN! RIP"

Brown's mother, Joyce Hawkins, also showed some much needed support to Rihanna via Twitter. "@rihanna ANGEL MAY GOD BE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY IN YOUR TIME OF SORROW. LOVE YOU ANGEL," in which Ri Ri replied, "@mombreezy thank you!" "Love You Angel."
