We've all been waiting to sink our teeth into some meaty "Jurassic Park IV' news! Universal has finally announced that "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (who are also husband and wife) are set to work on the fourth installment of the "Jurassic Park" series.
Deadline.com broke the juicy news that the writers would be jumping on the over $1 billion franchise.
The first "Jurassic Park" film hit theaters in 1993, winning three academy awards and grossing over $900 million worldwide upon its release. "The Lost World: Jurassic Park" was released in 1997, with "Jurassic Park III" released four years later in 2001.
The first two movies were directed by Steven Spielberg with the third directed by Joe Johnston, and produced by Spielberg. Similar to the last situation, the fourth installment will be produced by Spielberg, but not directed. Who will be directing "Jurassic Park IV" is currently a mystery.
Among other mysteries surrounding the film is the plot. Bloody-disgusting.com claimed to have some deets on the film in 2007. According to the site, they will once again be shooting in Hawaii, with Laura Dern returning as Dr. Elli Sattler. Bloody-disgusting.com reports that Sam Neill will not be returning as Dr. Alan Grant, and their has been no news on Jeff Goldblum. Unlike Dale and Saul from "Pineapple Express" ("f*ck Jeff Goldblum, man") we're huge Goldblum fans and are hoping for a return.
The other interesting tidbit on Bloody-disgusting.com is that they were told "the film is about the government who has trained dinosaurs to carry weapons and use them for battle purposes."
Unfortunately their article of "Jurassic Park IV" rumors was not published on April Fool's Day. Since their story was posted in 2007 with rumors of a 2008 release for the fourth "Jurassic Park" installment, we're kind of hoping that the plot line is WAY off.
