Abraham Lincoln and Vampires may not be two subjects that you are used to hearing about together, but for Tim Burton, producer of "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" the concept was a no brainer.
"It was even before Seth [Grahame-Smith] wrote the book, I just heard the title and I just said 'I need to see this movie,'" Burton said to ientimes.com at the New York City premiere of the movie. "It was really just based on the title alone that made me go for it."
Burton, the famed producer who has created movies such as "Beetlejuice," "Edward Scissorhands," "Alice in Wonderland," "Batman," "Batman Returns," "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street," "Dark Shadows," "Pee-wee's Big Adventure," "Planet of the Apes," "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and many others, is also a fan of the vampire phenomenon. However, his tastes are a little bit more vintage.
"Well first there was Bella Lugosi, so that's number one," Burton said. "I definitely have a fond spot for Christopher Lee in Hammer films because I was lucky enough to have met and known him. So I get to say I actually know Dracula and that's like a dream come true. But, there have been so many and I think that's the beauty of the vampire thing."
"Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter" opens in theaters tomorrow, Friday June 22.
