Giuliana and Bill Rancic revealed the gender of their baby yesterday on Father's day, a very fitting occasion. The Rancics are welcoming a boy.
"It is so exciting to finally be able to share the great news with everyone that we are having a.....BOY!!!!!" Giuliana wrote on her Facebook page yesterday. "Yay!!! We revealed the news to family and friends at our baby shower today. Everyone was so excited! Shower was so much fun. Mindy Weiss, our baby shower planner, created the most amazing ambiance. What an incredible day!!!"
Before being diagnosed with breast cancer last year, the Rancics struggled to get pregnant. Giuliana and Bill went through several rounds of IVF resulting in a pregnancy. However, that pregnancy tragically ended in a miscarriage. After the miscarriage and deciding to continue on with IVF, Giuliana was diagnosed with breast cancer after having a mammogram at her fertility specialist's request. Giuliana went on to have a double lumpectomy and eventually a double mastectomy. After the cancer diagnoses, doctors suggested it would not be safe for Giuliana to get pregnant because of the risk of the cancer returning. That is when the Rancics decided to use a gestational carrier, that ultimately resulted in a successful pregnancy. Their baby boy is due in the late summer.
"We are beyond excited to be having a little boy," Bill said.
"We are so ready for everything that comes with being a new mom and dad!" Giuliana added. "We just can't wait!"
"We're so thrilled that it finally happened for us," Giuliana said at the time of the pregnancy announcement.
"At the end of the day, whether you have a baby naturally, through adoption, through surrogacy, it's your baby. You're going to love that baby and that's all that matters," Giuliana said on the "Today" show, just a few weeks before they confirmed that their child was on the way.
