Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves tied the knot in a ceremony at their Texas home on Saturday, June 9. The couple who have two children together, Levi and Vida, have been together since 2006. McConaughey proposed to Alves this past Christmas day.
Alves and McConaughey married in a ceremony that had both a preacher and a Budhist monk. The couple trumped tradition with no bridesmaids or groomsmen and instead of reading their vows aloud, they whispered them in each other's ears.
"No one knows what they said, but you could tell it was emotional because she was teary-eyed," a source told Us Weekly magazine. "Matthew loves her, there's no doubt about that."
Alves walked down the aisle in a dress handmade by one of her favorite Brazilian designers and Stuart Weitzman heels and McConaughey wore a three-piece Dolce and Gabbana tuxedo.
"Matthew looked so handsome, like an Old Hollywood movie star," a guest told People magazine. "And Camila was just glowing and beautiful!"
After the couple exchanged vows, guests including Woody Harrelson, Reese Witherspoon, Jim Toth, John Cougar Mellencamp and Meg Ryan, were treated to food from Brazilian steakhouse Estância Churrascaria, including Brazilian top and bottom steak, chicken wrapped in bacon and pork sausages with cheese bread.
The event spanned over three days with guests lounging in hammocks and sleeping in luxury tents erected across the property for the occasion for the rest of the weekend.
The bride has taken McConaughey's last name and will now go by Camila McConaughey.
