'Spider-Man: Homecoming' Cast: Zendaya’s Character May Make Or Break Peter Parker’s Triumph
All “Spider-Man: Homecoming” trailers may have featured Zendaya’s character, but nothing much was said about who she was and what was her relevance to Peter Parker’s life. Now, the truth is finally out (leaked) and her existence may actually affect the young superhero’s success and failure as she may be the key to make or break his triumph.
The only thing that people knew about Zendaya’s character was her name — Michelle. Whispers and speculations surrounded the female lead since Marvel film tried so hard to keep her identity a secret. Many assumed that she could be the sister of Peter Parker’s one-time roommate, Vin Gonzalez, or she could be Mary Jane Watson but just using a different name for some reason.
However, Zendaya has already slammed rumors that she will be playing Peter Parker’s love interesting, crossing out the possibility of her being Mary Jane Watson. If she’s not an important character then she shouldn’t be present in all the “Spider-Man: Homecoming” trailers. So, who is she? Who is this intriguing character named Michelle?
Nerdlist reports that true identity of Zendaya’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming” character is definitely more complicated than everyone has ever anticipated. The female lead’s full name is actually Michelle Toomes. While the last name may not ring a bell to some viewers, diehard Marvel fans quickly recognized the surname that made the hairs on the back of their necks stood up.
Toomes is also the last name of the “Spider-Man: Homecoming” main villain, The Vulture, real name Adrian Toomes, played by Michael Keaton. With this new discovery, fans are now confused whether Zendaya’s character will be a friend or an enemy of Peter Parker (Tom Holland) as there is a high probability that she is the daughter of his nemesis.
But just like any other Marvel films, a twist is expected in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” as well. While Michelle Toomes could be a full-blooded villain, the character may find a true friend in Peter Parker that may lead her to switch sides and help Spider-Man fight against her father.
