"One Punch Man" season 2 was announced in late 2016 and details of its release date remain scant but there were reports that it will come out before the year ends. It is said that the production for the second installment has started in March but it takes time for its promotion and post-production to finish. That said, theories have it that the second season might be out in the last quarter of 2018.

According to Comic Book, a shonen anime's standard development timeline such as "One Punch Man" would take between six and nine months with 12 - 15 episodes in total. It can be recalled that season 1 had a total of 12 episodes plus six special episodes when it aired in Japan in October to December 2015. If the production has begun in March 2017, it is highly possible that the release date could be in December 2018.

If the promotion and the post-production for "One Punch Man" season 2 are to be considered, a December 2018 release is highly possible. However, some fans are still hopeful to see Saitama in the small screens once again this year. Additionally, Viz Media executive Kevin Hamric has previously said that the series would be one of the big releases this year, which keeps fans' hopes up.

"One Punch Man is coming back on with season two. There's going to be another season of My Hero Academia coming shortly," Hamric told IcV2 during an interview. "Later in the year, those would be the bigger releases on the anime side."

Meanwhile, reports say that "One Punch Man" season 2 will feature a 13-episode Hero Hunter arc, which is in the manga version. It features Garou, the student of Silver Fang, who has vowed to take down all the strongest and powerful heroes. The Hero Hunter arc features many characters as well as intense battles, which means that it's possible to deliver a total of 13 episodes.
