’13 Reasons Why’ Season 2 A Sure Deal? Selena Gomez Show May Get Sequel Despite Controversies
Although the concept of “13 Reasons Why” seems to be ordinary and has been done before, the Selena Gomez produced flick manages to convey the message in a hair-raising, tingle-down-the-spine way, making it one of the most binge-worthy Netflix shows to date. With the ongoing hype of the series, the showrunner teases that season 2 is definitely not far from happening despite the controversies.
Brian Yorkey may have no official "13 Reasons Why" season 2 release date yet but he has already been sharing the plot for the next installment. The showrunner shared that people may think that Hannah Baker's story has finally ended, it's certainly not the end of the line for the Netflix show at all.
“I have heard from a number of people, ‘Well we heard all her tapes so her story is done.’ That’s leaving aside the fact that for every tape there’s another person who has a story, which is the person Hannah mentions on her tape,” Brian Yorkey told Entertainment Weekly.
Meanwhile, "13 Reasons Why" is a new Netflix show based on Jay Asher's best selling 2007 young adult novel that is about the suicide of a high school student, Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford). Parent and school officials were not too pleased with the popularity of the show, claiming that it is glamorizing suicide.
One of the show's main cast, addressed the issue and defended the idea behind "13 Reasons Why." “I think there’s always going to be controversy. I respect their opinion, especially when it comes from a place of trying to protect their kids,” Christian Navarro said. “I think they should listen to their children though, this is happening right now all over the world in high schools. I think the parents should watch it with them.”
