'The X-Files' Season 11 Star Gillian Anderson Talks About Dana Scully Return, Playing Media In 'American Gods'
Fans are definitely looking forward to seeing Gillian Anderson reprise her role as Dana Scully in "The X-Files" Season 11. After all, there were concerns that the "American Gods" actor is no longer interested in bringing the iconic TV FBI agent back to life. Luckily, it looks like Anderson is eager to reveal just what happened to Scully and Fox Mulder in the conclusion of last year's revival. In addition to that, the star of "The Fall" Season 2 is having so much fun playing the modern deity Media in her new Starz series.
Gillian Anderson recently spoke to The New Zealand Herald, where she gamely revealed that she is looking forward to playing Dana Scully once again in "The X-Files" Season 11. The "Crooked House" star stated that she decided it was important to "have another go at it" because of the way the 2016 revival concluded. " All of us felt that the end of the previous season wasn't a place for us to finish," Anderson admitted, adding that her series with David Duchovny "has a longevity" that was unexpected by the cast and crew.
So when exactly is "The X-Files" Season 11 air date? Gillian Anderson shared that the new season "will begin shooting soon" but did not reveal when the show will return to Fox. CeleBeat has previously reported that the series is expected to premiere by late 2017 or early 2018. In the meantime, Anderson is gracing the small screen as the constantly changing Media, the new deity she definitely enjoys playing in "American Gods".
Gillian Anderson admitted that the idea of taking on several different personas in the TV adaptation of Neil Gaiman's novel is "a gift". However, there is one character that Media embodies that she enjoyed portraying the most. "I probably had the most fun playing Marilyn [Monroe] because she's so bright and lighthearted and I am not, so it was fun to jump into that persona," Anderson said with a smile. "American Gods" airs on Starz every Sunday nights.
