'Shadowhunters' Season 2 Star Katherine McNamara Confirms Return In 'Maze Runner 3', Sonya Joins Dylan O'Brien In Cape Town [PHOTO]
It looks like Thomas can expect the help of yet another ally in "Maze Runner: The Death Cure". Katherine McNamara has just wrapped filming on the back half of "Shadowhunters" Season 2 and is getting ready to reprise her role as Sonya in the Dylan O'Brien film. It certainly looks like McNamara will be flying off to South Africa, where O'Brien and his other cast mates are currently working on "Maze Runner 3".
Katherine McNamara has previously confirmed that "Shadowhunters" Season 2 has wrapped filming. However, it looks like the woman who plays Clary Fray will not be taking some time off work. McNamara is expected to return as Sonya in "Maze Runner 3", which is already being filmed in Cape Town.
Katherine McNamara has shared a new photo on Twitter with a revealing caption. It certainly appears that the "Shadowhunters" Season 2 star will immediately fly out to South Africa and begin work on "Maze Runner 3". After all, her character Sonya was one of the few who managed to escape from WCKED and stayed with Thomas in "The Scorch Trials". There is little doubt that Thomas needs plenty to help to retrieve Minho in "The Death Cure" so fans are excited to see that McNamara will be back.
The arrival of Katherine McNamara in Cape Town will certainly be something fun for the "Maze Runner 3" cast, who are often photographed enjoying themselves in South Africa. Dylan O'Brien's sister Julia has posted evidence of the cast letting loose in between work (via Instagram). The photo shows the O'Briens with Ki Hong Lee, Dexter Darden and Thomas Sangster on a boat.
Fans can look forward to seeing Katherine McNamara as Clary Fray in the second half of "Shadowhunters" Season 2, which is expected to air on Freeform later this year. McNamara will then appear alongside Dylan O'Brien in "Maze Runner 3", which is scheduled for release on February 9, 2018.
