G-Dragon 2017: BIGBANG Singer Fears Fans Will Not Support Him After Mandatory Military Service?
It's no secret that G-Dragon's passion is making music for the fans but he is also very realistic when it comes to his upcoming mandatory military enlistment. The BIGBANG singer has shared that he is open to the possibility of doing his duty very soon, but the only thing that worries him is what's going to happen when he returns to the limelight.
Kwon Ji-yong, or popularly known by his stage name, G-Dragon, has previously opened up about his and his fellow BIGBANG members upcoming mandatory military service. Oldest member, T.O.P, has started his mandatory military service back in February and the four other members are already in the right age bracket to do their duty. G-Dragon and Taeyang (Dong Young-bae) are both 28 years old, while Daesung (Kang Dae-sung) is 27 years old, and Seungri (Lee Seung-hyun) is 26 years old.
"Whenever our country calls us, we'll go. We don't know when or who it will be, so I want to show people the five-member BIGBANG for as long as we're allowed," G-Dragon said in an earlier interview. "We'll go and do our duty well. It's the aftermath that's the problem. However, when that time arrives, we might be older and have changed our minds. Although we will always be BIGBANG, we don't know what will happen when we come back [from enlistment]. But no matter how long it takes, when I find my confidence again, I'll definitely reappear in front of the public eye again."
Meanwhile, G-Dragon is arguably one of the most influential artists in K-pop, if not the whole world. His style has garnered him fans outside Korea, even grabbing the attention of fashion legend, Karl Lagerfeld of Chanel fashion house.
Being a fashion icon for over a decade, it is only fitting for G-Dragon to release his very own clothing line, PEACEMINUSONE. The BIGBANG leader is clearly making himself busy before his military service, and he even hinted that he may be creating a solo album.
