Doherty explained that there is a lot more story to tell after "Elementary" Season 5. Aside from this, Doherty shared that the finale was created without an endgame in mind and in no way does it serve as a series ender.
Doherty added that the finale will leave fans with a "cliffhanger in a couple of respects." This means that if CBS suddenly decides to pull the plug on "Elementary" Season 5, the finale may leave a lot of viewers dissatisfied and with a lot of questions left unanswered.
"Elementary" Season 5 ratings are not as stellar as other shows on CBS. As the publication notes, the show has only been averaging five million total viewers, which is lower than the canceled series, "Pure Genius."
