Why The Chris Evans and Jenny Slate Romance Didn't Pan Out
Chris Evans and Jenny Slate didn't fall for each other while filming "Gifted". She really didn't think she was his type, considering he's dated the likes of Jessica Biel and Minka Kelly. In the end, it confused her to be with one of the most objectified people in the planet.
When they got to know each other better, Slate discovered Chris Evans was actually a softie. In an interview with Vulture, she opened up what it's like to be with the "Captain America" star. They're both from Massachusetts, and describes him as one of the kindest people in the world. So much so that sometimes merely looking at him would break her heart. Evans is vulnerable, straightforward, and likes primary colors. He's got big, strong, beautiful emotions that he's really sure of. He's wonderful to be around.
When she found out Chris Evans had feelings for her, she somehow thought it was a prank. She could understand why she thought she was beautiful, but if a person led a certain lifestyle and she's a different type of person, she didn't want to become an experiment. Evans never made Slate feel that way but she didn't like how some people seemed to feel like they owned him. She especially didn't like it when girls came up to her at CVS, gushing about how 'hot' her boyfriend is.
As much as they loved being together, she said she and Chris Evans were really different. She has more freedom than him because she's not Captain America. She kept waiting for things to feel normal, but they never did. That was something she really needed, be normal and be alone. Thus, the break up.
On the other hand, Chris Evans has nothing but love and kind words for his ex Jenny Slate. In an interview with USA TODAY, he said that you can't help but have respect for Evans. And that one can't find something bad to say about her even if you tried. He will always be grateful for having her and she will be in his life always. Thus proving Captain America is indeed a gentleman.
