'The Mummy' Scares Audiences With Menacing Stare
Tom Cruise-starrer "The Mummy" is all ready to entertain fans following its first look being revealed at CinemaCon 2017. Universal featured its upcoming adventure movie at the event along with several other flicks to be released soon.
The latest sequel is being considered to include reboots of "The Invisible Man" and "Bride of Frankenstein." Sofia Boutella will be "The Mummy" in the movie, playing the titular villain. She is shown as an Egyptian princess, Ahmanet, who turned into a villain after she was denied the throne. The trailer will be revealed to the public on Sunday, according to Screen Rant.
The first complete trailer at the Las Vegas event on Wednesday revealed a menacing glare from "The Mummy." The new poster of the movie also has a close-up of a similar stare as featured in the trailer. The princess glares with twin-iris that is yet again a formidable power that she unleashes as she awakens from her tomb. In Alex Kurtzman-directed flick, Tom Cruise's explorer Nick Morton tries to combat an ancient evil that threatens to end this world.
"The Mummy" also has Annabelle Wallis and Jake Johnson in major roles with Tom Cruise's amazing stunts. "I think I was brought onto this movie to be afraid to do stunts with Tom Cruise," Johnson said as quoted by Toronto Sun. "Tom does it all and he makes his co-stars do it too. And I do mean 'make.'"
Tom Cruise could not attend the CinemaCon 2017 event because of his outdoor shooting reportedly for an "impossible" project." Cruise, according to reports, addressed the audience via video conferencing, during the event. The actor described "The Mummy", which is set to release on June 9, as a "bold, romantic, epic, terrifying monster film."
"My love for this began with universal classic films," Cruise said. "To usher in a new age of gods and monsters is something that makes me very proud and excited."
