'Guardians Of The Galaxy' Vol. 2 Spoilers: Here's How Kurt Russell's Ego Possibly Seduced Star-Lord's Mother
Fans will finally get to meet Star-Lord's estranged father in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" but Ego the Living Planet remains to be the mysterious character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel. Like, how did Kurt Russell's character go from being the size of a planet into an older version of Snake from "Escape from New York"? And how did he manage to meet Peter Quill's mother all those years ago? James Gunn may have offered a hint on why Ego found Meredith Quill in Earth (Terra) and eventually had themselves a little Star-Lord.
Everyone has been wondering about Peter Quill's father since he was heavily referenced to in "Guardians of the Galaxy". Star-Lord's mother had described him as "an angel, composed of bright light" while the Nova Corps discovered that Star-Lord's father is "something ancient". This certainly sounds like how Ego should look like if he still appears as the Living Planet. So why does he look like Kurt Russell in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2"?
James Gunn recently spoke to Complex about his new film "The Belko Experiment", but also found time to discuss Ego's appearance in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2". The director revealed that the Living Planet looks like Kurt Russell because the Marvel character has "learned how to control the molecules around him." This is how Ego made an "avatar" of himself that ended up in Earth and met Star-Lord's mother.
It also looks like Ego was searching for something when he ended up in Terra with Meredith Quill. James Gunn also stated that the Living Planet "was a very lonely character" who was looking "for love" and "found it in Quill's mother". There is a possibility that "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will feature a flashback on how Ego met Star-Lord's mom, as per ComicBookMovie. Hopefully, this would confirm whether Kurt Russell's character was out for romance or something else when he made it to Earth, .
Kurt Russell's first appearance as Ego was featured in the sequel's most recent YouTube trailer. "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will premiere on May 5.
