'Logan' Ending Possibly Predicted In James Mangold 'The Wolverine' Film, Yukio Death Prophesy Was Right All Along? [SPOILERS]
"The Wolverine" certainly had several awesome scenes featuring Hugh Jackman as the mutton-chopped mutant, but the film might have prophesized his tragic fate in "Logan". Was Yukio right when she predicted how Logan would die in the 2013 film? Director James Mangold has confirmed that her prophesy has been pretty accurate all along.
In "The Wolverine", the comic book character Yukio is introduced as a mutant who can see other people's deaths. At one point in the Hugh Jackman film, Yukio warns Logan that she has seen how he will die and offers a graphic description. "I see you on your back, there’s blood everywhere," she tells him. "You’re holding your own heart in your hand." But is it possible that James Mangold had a different idea about Wolverine's death and made sure Yukio's prediction was still reflected in "Logan"?
Twitter user @_moegonzales3_ posted about the possible connection between Yukio's "The Wolverine" prediction and the tragic conclusion of "Logan". Not surprisingly, James Mangold reacted to the tweet immediately. The director applauded the fan for finding the connection. In "Logan", Hugh Jackman's character spent his final moments holding Laura, the young mutant who eventually became a daughter to Wolverine.
"Logan" may have wrapped things up neatly for Hugh Jackman so he could retire from Wolverine. However, there is still a possibility that Patrick Stewart will return as Professor X after the James Mangold film. A YouTube video from "The Late Late Show with James Corden" reveals that Stewart is still considering a Charles Xavier comeback in "Deadpool 2" as well the the FX series "Legion".
